Irrational Exuberance
My Inauguration Day
I walked into work and found an Obama pin in my mailbox. I was going to throw it away but decided to I watched the inauguration from a first grade classroom. One of my coworkers said that some of the students thought McCain was president. I promise that I did not make that up. So…today I find out that a few of our older students were simply laughing during the inauguration of the first ‘Black’ president. Some of my coworkers were shocked! They probably thought, “Oh my! The students didn’t get it? We have a Black president now! They aren’t supposed to act like that!!! What about ‘change’? What about ‘restoration’ of hope?” I guess amidst all of the irrational exuberance, some of my students still haven't received the memo. *sigh* Oh wait...! I almost forgot! We have 4 years to get it to them...and if it takes longer we'll need to elect Obama for another 4 years to really ensure they get the 'change' they need. lose put it somewhere in my office. Someone asked me if I was going to wear the pin and I purposely evaded the topic. It’s not that I didn’t want to participate…but what if it were a Republican? Would my coworkers wear memorabilia for a Republican?
So I silently rebelled and didn’t wear the pin! Take that socialists! I guess it was kind of passive aggressive of me. So why not wear the pin of the first Black president? That’s what ‘we’ do…right? I'm supposed to be a mindless zombie who doesn't have enough backbone to resist the strongholds of group think? ![]()
Um…sorry…not me…not now…not ever.
