Taking Back the Sacred Pulpit

On our ride home from church (Saturday), my aunt told me that the pastor said, "In all that we know about the United States and legislation that has been passed, there has never been this much money passed to help poor people!  Congress passed the stimulus this week so that we can get help!"

So my aunt said, "Is that true, Vanessa?"

I couldn't breath.  My heart started pounding! My blood pressure went up!  I couldn't even answer her because there was smoke literally coming out of my skull!  My system goes into overload when I hear liberal distortions-but it gets even worse when they are spewed from the pulpit!

She asked me again and I didn't even know where to begin.  I could have explained to her all the pork spending in the bill, but I would have probably clogged my and her arteries just by talking about.  *sigh*

After repeating verbal affirmations to calm myself down, I said, "If you were president of the United States, and you sincerely believed that printing more money from the federal reserve and borrowing money from China would 'save' our economy-how much of the 787 billion would you spend in the first year--you know being that jobs are being lost at an alarming rate...now???"

She thought about it for a minute and said, "Well over 50 percent."

I responded, "According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, only 11 percent of that money will be spent this year!"  She couldn't believe it.

Look, I can no longer gripe about the 'American Recovery and Reinvestment Act' of 2009 because it was signed by our president.  It's a done deal.

We know that Blacks are more likely to attend church.  Religiosity (specifically the Christian faith) is extremely important to Blacks.  When liberals want to infiltrate their tired agendas they often use the sacred pulpit.  When trying to push baby-killing, we know that Margaret Sanger used this tactic.

So here's my point:   Unfortunately, many people don't investigate and often blindly follow church leaders.  With that being said, if we can empower and educate the Black leaders of the church- reinvigorate them with the conservative message-we will have significant access to a group of people who are truly hungry for change--but not the type of change Obama is bringing to our country.

I think it's nice that your Aunt sounds like she at least wanted your opinion and you took the time to give her an honest answer. It sounds like she doesn't totally believe in the rhetoric either.

As a pastor of a church in Gary, IN I can tell you that the pulpit hasn't been sacred for a long time. Ever since the black politician of the late sixties and early seventies found that giving "Rev" tickets to the Mayoral Ball would insure an endorsement, the church in the black community began to lose its power and slid into the largely impotent organization it is today. We as pastors must take responsibility for letting government tell us what we should do, rather than following what God told us to do.

Great article, would love to discuss remedy with you. Blessings.

My daughter sent me your comments concerning the present situation and the REAL problems for the black race...congratulations, the most intelligent problem identification I have ever read. Im here to tell you that this deep, scary ignorance that you have identified is imbedded throughout the US. Im white and I see it growing within my own circle of aquaintances. Its almost impossible to talk to individules who, black, white, or any other color, dont have the education or even enough since to reason the problems out for themselves. The only time I see the situation change someones mind is when it effects them or thier hobbys immediatly. Other than that they seem to forget the past, therfore they dont learn. Most of them can tell you who played first base for the Yankees in 1956 and what year beer was .17 a bottle but cant tell you who was the 47th president of the US or who actually sent the 1st US troops into the middleast.Sad,Sad,Sad...I used to hear my Dad and Grandpa talk about the US "going to hell in a handbasket". Every time the US people make a dumb move like the last election, I see my Dad and Grandpas prediction getting closer and closer. The comments written on the wall and directed at you are signs of the end...

I went through the same stages you described just reading your aunt's question. These pastors will one day face a reckoning. You handled it as only a good Christian educator could, with patience and love. I'll bet you are the most popular GC in your school.

    Respect!

AS a minister, I am disheartened by the misinformation that is expressed over the pulpit. As a black minister with two Maters degrees, I am disappointed to find out that 3/4 (75%) of black clergy are uneducated. (Not just in ecclesiology) but any education. Is it any wonder then that blacks, and the black church in particular, have been hoodwinked by the Jesse Jackson's, and the Al Sharptons of the world? Couple that with the ignorance of the pulpit which has greatly attributed to the misinformation, and blind allegiance of many (most) in the black church. God Help Us!

I attend the "bible church" in ypsilanti, michigan and it is run by a black american pastor who also is the president of the "national black prolife congress" and he also has a radio show called "joshuas trail" and it feels sooo good to be around like minded conservative black and white folks who believe in being fruitful and multiplying. I left a church that was into "social justice" when is was reborn as a conservative years ago. I don't think that you can verbally beat up on black people about supporting liberals but you can kind of let them see the light and some of them will awake on there own like i did. I just read an outstanding book by gail buckley called "American Patriots" the story of blacks in the military from the revolution to desert storm. It took her 15 years to write it and there is a black family named pierce that has had a family member fight in every major war since the revolutionary war. PS tell Gov christie to overhaul new jerseys gun laws, the second amendment is based on the god given right to self protection and when i am driving through new jersey in my truck i want to take my kimber with me in case i have to excercise that right. Guns are the reason that america has not had the large scale genocide that other countries have had, nigeria, russia, china, sudan, rwanda, uganda, dominican republic, cambodia, germany, turkey etc 170 million unarmed people have been killed by there governments in the last century. Dvd "Innocents Betrayed" God bless you and keep up the good work
