Putting On My Back Pack and my Bullet Proof Vest

I arrived in New Jersey about 1 week ago.  The reason why I moved back to my home state was because I really wanted to pursue a second master's degree in Political Science.  My ultimate goal is to become a college professor.  As I've written before, I would like to teach on the collegiate level so that I can counterbalance the leftists who all too often use their platform to inculcate their anti-american, anti-christian, pro-baby killing, pro-marxist, moral relativist leanings.

To be completely honest, I am a little fearful of going back into their territory.  Fortunately, I can mask my fear pretty well.  I don't let fear truncate my ability to clearly articulate the truth.  It's just sad because too often Conservatives/Republicans are caricatured and lambasted by liberal professors who should present ALL of the sides of the issues, and allow their students to critically analyze which side makes the most sense.

Almost 80% of Academics vote Democrat.  Surprised? 72 percent identify as Liberal while only 15 percent identify as Conservative.  The ideological disparity is even more stark at the most elite schools in the nation with 87 percent of faculty who identify as Liberal and only 13 percent who call themselves Conservative.

Much to my chagrin, I did background research on the professors in the political science department of the institution I will be attending.  They are all leftists.  I hate the fact that I won't have a "conservative" to "look up to", but I am more concerned that professors might be hostile to my perspective on the issues.  I can honestly say that not all of my liberal professors had tunnel vision.  In fact, it was a liberal professor who opened my eyes to the fact that I might be more conservative then I would have previously imagined.  This professor also told me about Thomas Sowell.  Thomas Sowell is my friend in my head.

I just hope, since the leftists are the "champions" of  "respect" for "intellectual diversity", that they will embrace a differing opinion, and welcome "dissent".  After all, I'm a minority (conservative), in a minority (Black). Maybe they'll take me under their wings, lol.

Classes begin on Monday, and I'm getting a book bag and a bullet proof vest.  It's hard out here for a Conservative.  If you believe in Jesus, keep me in your prayers.

Mon Dieu!! I believe I may be in love...not in the carnal sense, but with your mind, Vanessa. You articulate your views so well; I used to cringe every time George Bush got behind a microphone, and was terrified the Democrats would find an articulate minority candidate who was credible; not because he would be be black, hispanic, female, or Asian, but because I know the liberals so well, and knew one of the first tricks they'd pull out of their bag would be the "anti" gambit. The media would largely give this person a pass on any valid criticisms, because not to do so would be seen as anti-(fill in the blank).
It appears I was correct; when I saw Barack Obama giving a rebuttal several years ago for the Dems on a Republican State of the Union speech, I said to myself, "that man will be President one day", and I remember the most profound feeling of sadness come over me as I said it. Now I know why. I am not a man of means, but I will donate what I can to your book; I believe yours is a voice which needs to be heard.

I'm sure that if you do become a professor, you'll find that your colleagues will be glad to have someone with a fresh perspective on things- provided that you go about it in an appropriate manner of course. Nobody want to hear from a belligerent soapboxer- no matter what the message may be. I've never been reprimanded for expressing differing views than those of my professors, or known about anyone who has. I got an A in a sociology class where I contradicted my professor (and often unintentionally made her look foolish) nearly every class... so have a little faith! Those professors didn't get their jobs by having single-ideal tunnel vision.

LOL, poor you. Maybe you need to take yourself over to Bob Jones University or somthing so you can learn from some conservative professors. Besides must conservatives I know like to make money so teaching is not ususally high on their list of jobs, maybe you should try another profession.
